1. What was the last dream that you had about?

I dreamt last night that I was driving my red Tacoma through some crazy crazy thick mud in the moutains. I slowly lost control of the vehicle and began bashing into parked cars around me. All this time I felt totally safe, and the truck was never damaged because of the huge brush guard bolted on front.

I remember thinking 'I should totally go back and take responsibility for those accidents and leave notes on their windshields.' I don't think there were any witnesses, we were up really high in the mountains... about treeline (11,500 ft). So, I think I kept on going.

2. Does it hold any significant meaning to you?

it must, since I loved that truck tremendously and just sold it this week. Not sure why it is running around in my head, I thought I made peace with it. To give it a pop psychology analysis though: in my unconscious I am very worried about the truck. Perhaps I feel dude who bought it from me won't take proper care of it. He doesn't know how to drive it like I do. That truck was my Herbie, on some sad level. Perhaps in order to make peace with it being gone, my unconscious is killing it off on some level.

Generally speaking, my analysis goes more Jungian than Freudian. That means I prefer a more mystical and spiritual approach to the more literal world of generic dream analysis. However, Freud deserves some serious props for pretty much inventing psycho-analysis as we know it. So, as an homage to Sigmund... here is a Freudian interpretation:
the truck represented my penis and the cars I hit were my parents... obstactles to my freedom. Only after destroying the parent archetype was I able to become fully realized as a man who needs to do cocaine of his mother's breast. Then, I shit myself crazy because I could... as a means of self expression and further independence. No, seriously... that is a strict Freudian read, I studied this for years.

3. Do you dream in color or black and white?

Color. As a serious student of dreams I can tell you everyone dreams in color. The issue is actually whether you remember the dream in color. It's like when people say 'I don't dream'. Wrong. Everybody dreams, some just don't remember it (Freud calls that repression... and correctly so). Dreaming is the only way our minds can sort out all the crazy shit that goes on every day and make some sense of it. Of course, some of dreaming is also synapses firing randomly (which is why you have penguins in a disproportionate amount of your dreams). If you didn't dream, you'd go nuts. Dreaming is the only time our subconcious gets to have a sit down talk with our conscious. These are important talks to have, or else you end up sitting in a basement alone listening to Poison's Greatest Hits and pretending to school people on Psychology 101. Sweet justice, don't be that guy.

4. What is the most frightening dream you ever had?

It was a re-occuring nighmare I had through my childhood of my mother getting hurt, because I wasn't paying attention. Yeah, that's some fucked up shit, isn't it? I was carrying some kind of burden feeling responsible for her safety. It still doesn't make sense to me, but can one rationalize your relationship with your mother at age 10? I'll tell you how, you pay my therapist $93 an hour like me!

5. Is there one dream that stays clear in your mind despite the fact it was more than a few years ago?

That same one listed above, which I haven't had in probably 20 years. Now I have a cool relationship with my mom, more as an adult... so I can finally appreciate and understand all that stuff she was feeding me for years.

In closing, as always... thanks go to Roy for everything. Stop over and visit his site here. He is way smarter, funnier, and more insightful than me. I honestly can't think of another person I could lay that complement on. Oh, and let's not bring up that thing about me sitting alone in the basement listening to Poison's Greatest Hits, k? It was just a literary device to make a point. Sweet, here comes the solo to 'Talk Dirty to me' (I mean, metaphorically of course)

1. What was the last dream that you had about?

I honestly, have no idea. I generally don't remember my dreams. Often I wake up from a good dream in the middle of the night and will sit up and repeat it to myself so that I will recall it in the morning. On the occasions that this actually works, I get as far as telling my wife about it in the morning and then forget all about it. I always mean to create a dream journal an dwrite this stuff down, but I never do.

2. Does it hold any significant meaning to you?

I don't put a lot of stock into dreams meaning anything. I would say your mind is often working through stuff that happened in the day, and certainly if something is stressing you out it will effect the way you dream. I just don't get into the whole my dream contains symbolism which holds literal meaning in my life. Although there was this one dream I had about becoming a duck that seemed to hold a lot of meaning at the time...

3. Do you dream in color or black and white?

I'll trust Lono and say it must be in color.

4. What is the most frightening dream you ever had?

I can't remember any specific scary dreams, but I do like them. When I have a nightmare I usually wake up feeling elated. Its like watching a scary movie. I wake up, realize it wasn't real and feel that rush of adreneline pounding through my veins.

5. Is there one dream that stays clear in your mind despite the fact it was
more than a few years ago?

Just the duck dream.
